June Postcard Workshop
It’s fun and it’s fabulous! One of the things we will offer at the 2026 Quilt Show is a selection of handmade, quilted notecards with envelopes. These are easy to make and so, so cute! We envision selling individual cards and packs of 5 (think: invitation packs, Christmas cards, etc.). The asking price is still being decided–feel free to offer suggestions as we sew.
With that in mind, we’re having a Notecard Workshop on June 19 at Dewey’s studio (215 Joycliff Circle) from 10:00 – 3:00. We’ll each bring a lunch, enjoy a day of creativity, and learn a new gift idea for our friends! Put this date on your calendar now. Please come and join the fun! I guarantee you’ll have a wonderful day!
Things to Bring: Sack lunch and drink Snacks to share (if you want to–will someone please bring chocolate?) Sewing machine (zig-zag stitch required) Scrap thin cotton batting cut into approximately 5”x7” rectangles Panels, material suitable for fussy-cutting, orphans blocks, applique motifs, and scraps White thread for zig-zagging around the edge. July Workshop: Machine Applique with Jan Cunningham
Learn Machine Applique from Jan Cunningham, one of the most creative and prolific members of East Cobb Quilt Guild! She's teaching an IN PERSON Machine Quilting workshop on Thursday, 07/17 at 9:30 am at Dewey Godwin’s Studio, 215 Joycliff Circle, Macon, Ga. (bring your own lunch)
Workshop lasts 6 hours. Cost is $35/person and a kit is $15/person. We will have a sign up sheet at the May meeting. Jan provides everything but your sewing machine, basic notions and tools as she teaches the Sharon Schamber method of machine applique.

Charity Quilts Workday
Annual charity sew in at Dewey Godwin’s studio. Bring any project that you are working on for donation to The Methodist Children's Home. If you don't have a current project, there are opportunities to sew batting scraps together, press blocks or bind for others. Studio open anytime after 9AM until ~ 4PM. Bring a sack lunch and snacks if you want to share.

Frances Arnold
Frances Arnold describes her quilting experience:
I started quilting in 1985 with my first quilt being a machine appliqued baby quilt. I had little idea of what I was doing but I made it work anyway. My heart was filled when I saw the child wrapped in the quilt, keeping her warm on a chilly evening!!
My quilting interests vary greatly!!!
When I just want to sew and not have to think, I will work on a scrap quilt. Nothing feels better than putting all of those unrelated fabrics together and having it turn into something special.
If I want to make a “thinking quilt” (ie something more challenging), I gravitate to inspirations from our travels. I particularly enjoy making collage type quilts.
Most importantly, I enjoy encouraging other quilters in their journeys. To that end, I love being involved in my local quilt guild and truly enjoy speaking to guilds about the creative process.

Lynette Warren
I am a traditional quilter who has found joy in working with contemporary fabrics. Traditional patterns have found new life in Indonesian batiks, and African and Australian fabrics, to name a few. I also like the look of scrap quilts when used in a pattern that is usually seen with consistent fabric choices. I have found that making scrap quilts gives me a fighting chance against the "wanderlust" of quilters (also known as the UFO syndrome).

Challenge Show and Tell
The challenge this year is to complete a quilt that represents our forty years as a guild. The submission requirements are that the quilts need to contain 40 items (40 blocks, 40 pinwheels, 40 different pieces of fabric, etc) as well as a red heart. The entries will be displayed and a blind voting will take place. It is fun to see the many different ways that the challenge directions are interpreted and created by our members!
Sandy Gilreath is the chair of the challenge.

Christmas Luncheon
Our annual Christmas Luncheon provides a time for our members to enjoy Food, Fellowship and Fun!

Picnic and Yard Sale
Join us for our annual Picnic potluck and yard sale. We meet at 11am instead of 10am. Bring a covered dish to share with everyone. Ham will be provided as well as water to drink. Sides, desserts and other drinks are welcome. Paper products are provided.
Bring your unwanted or unneeded items (already reasonably priced) for the Yard Sale. All Yard Sale proceeds go to the guild.

Marian Zelinski Fiber Artist
I am a studio artist currently living and working in Macon Georgia. I work primarily in fiber, surface design, acrylic, and mixed media, incorporating photography, digital composition, and traditional fine art and textile media (individually or in any combination) to create original fabrics as a canvas designed for quilted gestural and contour drawing.

Sheila Shepherd Quilter’s Dream
Batting can make a project turn out so different but its importance is overlooked. Sheila will explore the different kinds of batting in the market and why you would use different batting for different projects. She will have samples of the different battings in finished quilts and samples to take home as well as batting for sale at 20% off.

Carol Stanek Trunk Show
Carol learned to sew at an early age and spent many years making clothing and home decoration items. Years later, her two youngest children were each gifted with a quilt made by their paternal grandmother. This is when the quilting bug took root! It was at this point she had to learn everything about quilting. Join us to hear her story.

Hand Quilting Journey
We will start off the year with the quilt journeys of our members who do hand quilting!
Featuring the talented work of Marie Amerson, Carmen Madan, and Deann Duke
