Wendy Earwood - Press for Success

At 64 years old, I am living proof that it is never too late to find your ultimate passion. I grew up sewing clothing with my Mom and my Grandma Smith, and even majored in Home Economics in high school, but I never gave quilting a single thought in all my years. In fact, when a friend suggested it after I retired, I gave her an unequivocal “NO!” But she planted a seed in my mind that began to grow and almost a year later, I decided I would try my hand at quilting.

“From that very first stitch in 2019, I was completely hooked. I fell head over heels in love and have quilted almost every day since.”

My new obsession moved so quickly that within 30 days, I dismantled my guest room bed and leaned it against the wall, and six weeks later, I sold the furniture entirely — I needed the space for my quilting toys! This room became my happy place.

When 2020 happened, I spent my days diving into YouTube videos to master the craft. I made lots of mistakes, but a favorite lesson learned was the absolute magic of the iron. I quickly realized that a great quilt is built on precision, and the ironing board is your first line of defense in the overall appearance of a quilt block. Today, I bring that love for precision, daily practice, and continuous learning into everything I create.

Welcome to my corner of the quilting world. Let’s Press for Success!
